2012 Updates
Beginning in the Spring of 2012, we added 4 more acres of hopyard trellis. This time we added 2 acres of Columbus, an additional of Chinook, and 1 more acre of Centennial. We also wrapped up our 3 year organic hop trial with the USDA, Washington State University, University of Vermont, and Michigan State University. We were very fortunate to be part of that research project and learned a great deal. We thank them all.
We will now take what we learned from that important study and plant accordingly. Some of the varieties that did well in our sandy loam Michigan soil included, Brewer's Gold, Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Galena, Glacier and Nugget.
