2014 Update

New varieties, expanded greenhouse capacity, and faster processing capabilities.

In addition to adding acreage and new hop varieties, we are also adding greenhouses. The latest one we built will be a collaboration with Hemlock Creek Farm and 9 Bean Rows as well as the Michigan Hop Alliance. We will now be able to propagate our own hops plants from virus-free stock and distrubute to Michigan farmers and beyond. The hop plants sold at New Mission Organics will be certified organic, another first in Michigan. As you can tell we had to put this high-tunnel structure up in the dead of winter. :)

After the harvest of 2014 it was apparent that we have outgrown our harvesting capacity. So we added another dryer, built a bailer, and moved our hammermill and pelletizer into a new processing center in Traverse City. This will allow us to concentrate on picking, drying and bailing in record time. Speaking of pickers, we moved our 170 into another facility and purchased a larger Wolf WHE 230.
